"Working for nine months in Vietnam as a volunteer“ - before leaving, I often heard the joke "nine months... very suspicious. Are you maybe expecting a baby?"
Well luckily I wasn’t pregnant and I’m still not after coming back, but in some way a new life started for me. I feel changed by the country, the culture, the people I met  and the experiences I was able to make.

Working as an English assistant in my project showed me, that teaching actually is quite hard, especially when you work with about 50 young children. So it was a challenge for me but I still would do it again and again. The children have such positive energy and always seemed very happy to see me and that made my day every time! And I especially will miss working on dance-projects with them.

Living in the VPV house, gave me the chance to meet some of the most amazing people I know and I made very good friends. Sure it wasn’t always easy to live with up to 29 people, especially because it was hard to find privacy. But thinking of the many evenings I spent with my friends on the balcony singing, playing cards or ludo. In the house we all grew to a big family and I already look forward to coming back and visiting this second home of mine!

Living in another country, far away from your family and friends can be quite a challenge but it’s an experience, I think everyone should make. I learned a lot about myself and how I want my future to be like. So I’m very thankful for this time and can recommend it to everybody, because volunteering definitely doesn’t just mean giving but even more receiving and learning in so many ways.
